Tips to Enjoy a Night In This Halloween

For many, Halloween is the most fun holiday of the year. It’s marked off on calendars, costume prep for the next year starts as soon as this year’s ends and parties are organized and planned months in advance. But for others, Halloween is an ideal night for a relaxing evening and we’ve got the essentials to make all those partiers envious.

Jackson Family Wines

Whether you’re hosting a few friends or having a night to yourself, treat yourself with a delicious bottle of wine from Jackson Family Wines. The Murphy-Goode Merlot is an excellent choice with autumn flavours, thanks to its low tannins. This Merlot is sure to please the finickiest of wine drinkers, with aromas of black cherry, blueberry and blackberry that tie together and create a kiss of toasty vanilla.

If you’re more of a white wine enthusiast, we haven’t forgotten about you. Enjoy a bottle of La Crema’s Sonoma Coast Chardonnay, the ideal white for a cozy night in. The wine is concentrated and juicy on the palate with a lingering finish. This wine pairs well with cracked crab, lobster, shrimp, and scallops prepared in a buttery, creamy sauce, a simple roast chicken, and butternut squash risotto.

Eataly Toronto

If you’re not much of a cook or just don’t have the time, then Eataly Toronto has got you covered on your meal for the night. Every day, Eataly bakers prepare fresh Pizza alla Pala, a favourite street food from Rome. If you’re looking for something more substantial, Eataly also prepares fresh panini daily, served on homemade bread as well as traditional offerings like pizza and pasta from restaurants Trattoria Milano, La Pescheria, La Pizza & La Pasta and La Piazza located inside Eataly.

BakeGood

In case you’re someone going for more of a ‘lights off’ approach and aren’t a fan of giving out candy but still want to do something festive, we find that baking is a great compromise. With recipes from BakeGood.ca, this Halloween is the perfect opportunity to put your baking skills to the test and perhaps show off some of your skills with leftovers to bring to work the next morning! Try these Trick-or-Treat Halloween Cupcakes if you’re looking for a cute yet festive snack, these Halloween Brownies for a chance to enjoy some of the annual novelty candy, or these Halloween Sugar ‘N Spice Cookies for a final chance to perfect your decorating skills.

PLUCK

As Halloween falls on a Monday this year, some might prefer to keep their weeks alcohol-free, or don’t partake in any alcoholic beverages to begin with. Luckily, PLUCK teas have the perfect autumnal flavours for you to enjoy at home whilst cozying up and watching a scary movie. Enjoy PLUCK’s new fall-flavoured, cinnamon-studded Pumpkin Spice blend, made of black tea, cinnamon and marigold petals - for this one we love adding a little whipped cream and caramel drizzle… yum! Or, try PLUCK’s Caramel London Fog blend, made of organic black tea, bergamot and caramel. Both teas come bagged or loose and are sold online, at select grocers and some coffee shops.

Whether you want to watch a spooky movie and cozy up by the fire solo with some tea or wine, or host some friends and grab some dinner while using a ouija board, these tips are a foolproof way to ensure that you enjoy Halloween and all it has to offer.
