During long weekends, some Torontonians escape the hustle and bustle of the city by heading up north to get some rest and relaxation by the lake. Others decide to stay and embrace the crowds, busy streets, and city events.


If you’re ditching cottage country traffic and staying in the city this long weekend, we’ve found some great events and activities for you to check out.

Chow down at Toronto Ribfest


Toronto Ribfest will be on all weekend long at Centennial Park in Etobicoke and it’s featuring more than just great food! Ribfest goers of all ages can experience thrilling rides from Albion Amusements, bands and performers, line dancing, and celebrity food judging.

There’s no better way to close out your long weekend than with an awesome fireworks show. Starting at approximately 10 p.m. on Monday night, you can see fireworks at:

Take advantage of free admission at the ​​ROM


To kick off summer, on Monday, July 1, the famous Royal Ontario Museum is offering free admission - no ticket or sign-up is required! This is the perfect opportunity to check out their brand-new exhibit, Earth: An Immersive Journey, which brings habitats to life through projections, scent, audio, and lighting.

Experience an electronic musical festival


On Saturday and Sunday, Electric Island will be coming to Toronto for its 12th season. The annual festival will be held at Downsview Park and each day will feature three stages of different electronic artists including, Charlotte de Witte, Diplo, and Loco Dice.


Check out the Rhythms of Canada Festival at the Aga Khan Museum 


From June 29 to July 1, people of all ages can enjoy three days of food, activities, special programming, musical performances, and collections of world-class art. This is the perfect event for the whole family to enjoy!

Spend your weekend at the harbourfront 


All weekend long, the Harbourfront Centre will be putting on a festival with music, dance, comedy, food and activities. Many performances and activities are free for anyone to enjoy including, a swing dance class, drummers on stilts, film screenings, hula hoop performances, and so much more. Get your rock on at Q107 Festival


The popular radio channel, Q107 Toronto’s Rock Station, is offering its fans a three-day in-person rock and roll experience. The festival will take place at Woodbine Park and include tribute bands, a beer garden, food trucks, and a kids zone.
